The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Montefiore Medical Center is a multidisciplinary department, including more than 30 fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeons and podiatrists. Our department's patient activity totals approximately 120,000 patient visits per year.

  • Adult reconstruction
  • Joint replacement surgery
  • Foot and ankle surgery
  • Spine surgery
  • Sports medicine
  • Shoulder surgery
  • Musculoskeletal tumor surgery
  • Trauma surgery
  • Pediatric orthopaedic surgery

A Tradition of Scholarship, Comprehensive Training and Educational Excellence

Our program and its partners have been educating future orthopaedic surgeons for more than 50 years. During that time, the residency program has developed into one of the largest and best training programs in the nation. Additionally the department has established advanced orthopaedic surgical training fellowships in the subspecialty areas of Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery and Adult Reconstruction.

Our residents and fellows are graduate physicians from the finest medicals schools in the world; our residency program has produced over 500 Orthopaedic surgeons. Our residents rotate through our three private hospitals in the Bronx, allowing for ample opportunity to learn and become competent in all areas.
