The Department of Surgery is committed to the advancement of surgical sciences through the pursuit of excellence in patient care, surgery, and the preparation of future leaders of our discipline.

In addition to the high quality care we offer, the Department is also distinguished by achievements such as:

• Being one of only 24 U.S. transplant centers to have transplanted nearly 1,800 patients.
• Having approximately 1,000 patients on our transplant waiting list, more than any other New York program.

Clinical Trials

The Department of Surgery at Montefiore is recognized internationally for its longstanding dedication to ongoing research and clinical trials.  Montefiore surgeons consistently surpass anticipated clinical trial outcomes and have a reputation for following strict IRB protocols.  With decades of collective experience in conducting a multitude of clinical trials, our investigators actively pursue answers for several disease processes.  Our multi-disciplinary teams continuously commit themselves toward exceeding evolving high standards for clinical research set by industry peers.
