Biography:
Reza Ghavamian, MD is the Director of the Division of Urologic Oncology and the Urologic Robotics Program and the Director of the Prostate Cancer and Genitourinary Multidisciplinary Clinic at Montefiore Medical Center and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Having completed his residency at University of Massachusetts Medical Center and Urologic Oncology fellowship at the Mayo Clinic, he joined Montefiore Medical Center in 1998 and is now the only board certified urologist in the New York Metropolitan area who conducts every modality of surgery (open, laparoscopic, and robotic) for all urologic malignancies. In 2001, he established the first laparoscopic radical prostatectomy program in New York at Montefiore Medical Center, where he also launched the robotic program in 2005. He has appeared in the Guide to America’s Top Physicians and Best Doctors in America and has been honored with the Outstanding Teacher of the year Award at Montefiore Medical Center three times. He has also contributed to countless publications and textbooks, and serves as a member of the Urology Executive Committee for the New York Academy of Medicine, as well as a member of the American Urological Association (AUA), the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), and the New York Urological Society.
